Amundi Ireland’s Native Woodland Development

In 2020, Amundi Ireland supported the planting of a 3.6 hectare forest of over 12,000 native woodland trees in Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow. The project is part of the Irish Governments ‘Woodland Environmental Fund’, being deployed nationally by the Department of Agriculture, Food & Marine.

In 2022, Amundi Ireland will support a second native forest of 24,000 native trees in Kylemore, Co. Galway. This will bring the number of planted native trees supported by Amundi to over 35,000 nationally.

Native woodlands are an integral part of Ireland’s natural heritage, history and culture, and are unique in terms of their biodiversity. They provide numerous ecosystem services, including protection and enhancement of water quality, wider habitat linkage, landscape enhancement and carbon capture.

As David Attenborough put it, ‘Nature is our biggest ally and greatest inspiration’.
