Amundi Ireland Welcomes collaboration with 100 Women in Finance

Monday 20 March 2023

In March, Amundi Ireland welcomed twenty female students from Trinity College to it's Dublin offices. During their two hour visit, the students who are part of the Trinity Student Managed Fund, learned about a career in finance from our investment team. The event is part of Amundi Ireland's initiative-in collaboration with our investments business line-to address the topic of diversity. This was our first collaboration with 100 Women in Finance to inspire more women to pursue a career in finance.

The Trinity Student Management Fund (Trinity SMF) is the first student managed fund in Irish history. It is comprised of a team of undergraduate and postgraduate students who manage a real-life financial portfolio under the guidance of industry experts. Amundi Ireland's Andrew Arbuthnott sits on the board of the Trinity SMF.

This event is an key part of the students development and they remarked that seeing the office space is important for them to envisage themselves working in the industry. Kasper Elmgreen welcomed the twenty students to Amundi Ireland and explained the benefits and importance of having a team that is rich in diversity of thought, background and experience.

The students were then taken on a tour of the trading floor with Gianluca Minieri, where they had the opportunity to see the process of making trades first hand. They then met Suzanne Keane, who demonstrated the role of a portfolio manager from her desk on the investment floor.

Sarah Donnelly, Ciara Fitzgerald and Gillian Jones spoke about their career path into the finance sector and provided advice to the female students who are interested in entering the industry.

The event closed, with an opportunity to network over coffee and pastries on the 5th floor breakout room. Many colleagues from the investment team joined, which gave the students time to digest their mornings learnings and connect with our investment team in a relaxed environment.

The mission of 100 Women in Finance is to support women to achieve their professional potential at each career stage. It is their vision to have women occupy 30% of senior investment roles and executive committee positions by 2040. They also help to empower women by providing lifelong support throughout their career. This is achieved through hosting regular conferences and workshops, their ‘Great Career Academy’, their ‘Jump Start’ programme and ‘Launch Me’ programme.
